24-36 months is the current norm for MTOE assignments, 18-24 months for TDA. Yes, DA wants to try to keep tour lengths longer for initial termers. That is not the case as you gain rank. Only so many E-7 and above positions, with the right qualifications.

Ok, there are numerous answers to this depending on who you ask, BUT the regulation says 12 months. Even then there are a couple of instances where you can PCS under 12 months, but that's where those extenuating circumstances come into play. UNLESS it's a no cost move.

Now about the 12 months......a lot of times Divisions or major HQs will push back and cite their own regs, SOPs, directives, and any other command driven document to keep people, and will put up a stink. But if there's a compelling reason, and it's beneficial to the Army (key), they can move you at the 12 month mark. Branch won't like it unless they're driving it though......

I second what SGT (Join to see) said.
My branch leadership just told me this same thing but of course there are always options for special circumstances so hopefully you have some success.

Also, MSG (Join to see) and SSG Joaquin Goicoechea are career counselors who Im sure can answer any additional questions you may have.

Special circumstances = the assignment manager had their favorite meal for dinner the night prior, the move is in their benefit (not yours), and they felt like actually doing something positive. Not sure how it is in your CMF, but for 20+ years assignment managers in mine have been oxygen thieves that quote assignment scripture to one person then tell another something completely different to another person.
