Infantry company has been validated for the East African Response Team deployment. What should I expect?

Patrolling on foot and MRAPs, guard duty, gate security, there is always a chance if a T.I.C . Good luck and god speed.

I’m deploying to Djibouti in June of this year...what battalion you attached to?

I’m in the NJ National Guard. Aco 2-113th infantry. We deploy next January so I don’t know all the details

You should be very very careful and alert and possibly expect to take fire. East Africa from Somalia all the way down to Kenya is in trouble with various insurgencies or roving terrorist groups.

Obviously as an infantryman, experiencing combat and getting a cib is a goal, especially as a guard guy. My first deployment was a security deployment. This will be my first combat deployment. Being over there, particularly apart of this response force, how likely is it that I’ll get my cib ?

SPC (Join to see) - That I have no clue. I never got a CIB and I am not at all disappointed I missed it. Back to your question though response force means your going to be called in an emergency to defend something. Will you take fire or not. Is up to the opposing force. You know there are some Infantryman that deployed to Iraq and even some to Afghanistan that never fired their weapon during their deployment. So again depends on where you are and what happens there.
