My wife and I are set to PCS to Stuttgart at the beginning of the new year. Does anyone know anything about the housing on Stuttgart? How hard is it to obtain the German weapons permit to possess weapons in Germany? Also is there any way to study for the drivers license test ? I've heard it's quite difficult. Also, where are some of the best places to travel over there?

SGT (Join to see), congratulations on your PCS to Germany. My son is currently stationed in Germany as well as he and his family and they absolutely love it.
For you housing questions:
http://www.stuttgart.army.mil/housing/
For questions about permits and registry of weapons:
http://www.eur.army.mil/rmv/Firearms/default.htm
Germany has strict laws, I'd advise you to read carefully as there there are many nuisances you may not be accustomed to. Bringing a firearm into Germany w/o the proper forms will get you into a lot of hot water including jail time.
For driving:

It may seem overwhelming but once you pass the test, you will be able to enjoy traveling.
Enjoy your stay in Germany, there are a lot of opportunities, have fun and be safe.

SGT (Join to see), if you have not already requested a sponsor through the levy process, I would suggest that you do so. In the meantime, RallyPoint has a great search feature where you can "drill down" to the specific unit that you are going to, find persons assigned there, connect with them, and ask them questions. Look up in the left had corner of your page under "Advanced" search. Once there, you can enter in "Stuttgart" or the unit nomenclature that you are PCSing into and RallyPoint will pull up the folks that are already there. Good Luck!!!
From personal experience, Germany is awesome; especially down in the Bavaria region. There is a lot to see and do. Traveling is very easy either by car or by train. The USAREUR home page has a link to begin studying for your drivers license. You will take the test when you in-process. There are a lot of road signs on the test, so looking at the material early helps. I think that you are going to enjoy your tour.

Roger that MSG. I already have a sponsor and he's been very helpful. Just wanted to get a variety of other opinions. My wife and I are definitely looking forward to getting over there!
