Is there a way to get my military medals and decorations, without buying them from an Army Surplus store (since I earned them)?

Go to: https://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records
Follow the instructions on their website. I had to do this to get my updated records during my break in service. You are entitled to a one time issue of all your earned ribbons and medals. Also they will generate a DD 215 if your DD 214 needs updated to reflect changes after you have left service, and give you your complete service record as well.

Consider medalsofamerica.com or call [login to see] . You can get a free catalog showing military insignia, ribbons, medals, and more--but all for a price. They also build shadow boxes for your military history and can provide miniature ribbons and badges earned. I've used them for years.
