Here are a couple suggestions that I have seen: Pie in face auction, donations to wear civilian clothes for PT and for the day.

The other day at drill, the battalion authorized that if you donated a certain amount to the FRG ($5, something small), that soldier could wear business casual clothes the next day. It wasn't terribly strict on what constituted business casual; some of the junior folks showed up Sunday in jerseys, which looked really terrible at battalion formation.
