I don't exercise as much as I used to; that said I am off to the gym pretty soon.
I was a gym-rat right out of high school. I wanted to put on muscle and weight, which I did. Within a 2 year period I went from 155lbs to 225. I didn't focus much on aerobic exercise as that wouldn't get me where I wanted to go like free weights did. After that, for the next several years, exercise was an on again, off again thing.
In the year prior to enlisting, I focused once again on the gym, but this time I fit in some aerobic workouts. After enlisting, the Army took care of my PT needs for a few years, then once back in the civilian world, I had to take the responsibility on myself as I was in the Reserves, so it was more running than I otherwise would choose for myself, but I still focused mainly on free weights.
Now that I'm no longer in the Reserves, my running is all but gone, but I still hit the gym. As before, I do it for me. Unlike before I'm not trying to bulk up; I'm just trying to maintain strength and overall health. Its enough motivation for me to do it a few times per week.
