Two NCO's informed me I could request tours of duty where I could apply my mos skills in other units on the active side. Unfortunately time did not permit me to inquire further. How would someone go about requesting a tour of duty?

Not sure how the N.G. works but in the reserves, Higher HQ usually has a mob officer who looks for qualified personnel to fill open slot in unit that are being mobilized. Back when the mob tempo was high it was not hard for a willing soldier to get orders.

I believe Human Resource Command has an area on their web site where available tours based on rank and MOS are available, might be worth checking out.

Not an easy thing, quite similar to being AGR (Active duty Guard member. You apply to serve in the Active branch in your MOS, the more critical MOS the better. 1st I would check with you retention NCO and then PC for the paperwork, and what to do. It happens but don't get your hopes up.
