It's all legal, and if this is something about the nations budget crisis, you would think a US senator would find something else to try and argue....We fight for this country, and of all the dangerous professions, look at the pay! its not that great, why try and question the system?

I'm a triple dipper. I get a piddly retirement from the Army because the VA pays me at 100% disability. I get social security because I worked my tush off since the day I graduated high school and paid my taxes and worked here legally. If they think the "millions" I make is worth the pain and scars and surgeries, I will gladly pass my fortune on to them.

Well I finally got my SSDI. It was a real fight. Had to go to a hearing and the judge actually asked if I felt I deserved it as I am retired and getting disability. I just stared at him. My Lawyer, who was very good, objected very fast. I got the approval letter about 3 weeks later.

SFC Mark Merino I wonder why they don't talk more about reduction on benefits and pay of the Congressmen/women. I thought they believe in the trickle down system and/or lead by example? Maybe not.

I am 100% T&P. I will trade my "retirement plan" for any Congressperson's "retirement plan" any time they are ready to make the change.

Consider this: How many terms do they have to serve to retire?

I always get annoyed when these people suggest this. Everyone double dips. What is different than a civilian who went to work for a company like GM and gets a big pension after they retire and still get to get Social Security, etc. Plus out of all the public servants who can double dip the most are police and fire. You can be a cop for 20 years in one department and retire get a pension while joining another department. In fact the former police chief in my town is getting almost a 200K pension, but was hired on as consultant adviser for another 10k a month salary. No one ever suggest they should have to take a cut, because they have their union reps.

It doesn't surprise me though. It seems as time goes on we no longer have friends on either side of the aisle.

MSgt Allan Folsom Yup I seem to notice that. In fact I remember in 06 or 07 I think, congress voted a 3% raise and the Bush administration were advocating a lower cost of living adjustment.

I am also no longer a party follower. I find the candidate who I feel is going to do the least damage and that is who I vote for and hope it is not an error. Sometime I feel no matter what I vote for is a lose lose situation.

While voting yesterday I was thinking the same thing Maj Stanton. I question, did I vote for the right person?

I agree, SPC(P) (Join to see). And Senator Coburn is a Republican. Those men and women -- the veterans -- earned every penny of the money they're receiving. Especially the disabled vets. "Going after" those folks gets a big thumbs-down in my book.

Did anyone vote this fool OUT? People get so wrapped up around Republican and Democrat and vote for their particular party not thinking about themselves. Yeah it may be important to vote for your party, but I don't agree voting for people trying to screw us Veterans.

SFC Joey Jimenez, Coburn retired prior to the end of his current 6 year term. In a special election to replace him, James Lankford defeated Connie Johnson last night, which allowed the Republicans to fully retain Oklahomoa as well as retaining a Senate seat for the Republicans.

Coburn is from my home state, sadly to say. I'm glad he retired this year. Maybe we should look at his retirement to save some money.
