The Overseas Weekly Newspaper was an investigative weekly published by current and former military journalists in Europe. The OW "exposed" many things that led to a better Army!

Also known as the "Oversexed Weekly", it contained cheesecake photos in the center and on the back page. The Overseas Weekly was the scandal sheet for the military with gobs of dirty laundry in every issue. OW also had comics for adults like "Sally Forth" and "Cannon" from the great Wally Wood.

As yes, I remember it well (during those days between 69 to 72)...Ted Robbins and his cartoon Uptight...how LTC talked to God, but The Sergeant Major was God!

CW2 Evans--you are first responder again...yes, modern electronic media has taken the place of many types of "investigative reporting"...yet there is still a place for more in depth analysis and recording of what right looks like---and does not. The OSW was very inspiring to many drafted soldiers, and was of course not well liked by commanders caught with their pants down. Eventually, the IGs started investigating things long before most of it could become a news story on it's own and turned the dog around; in other words there was more public accountability--which is a lot more than the fake "transparency" we talk about so much today and yet cannot see because the propaganda fog remains too thick.

Your posts were getting buried a little bit. Honestly surprised SFC Mark Merino hadn't got around to providing a quick quip on them. ;)
