Does anyone know how the transition from Army Active Duty to AGR or Reserve works?

I have been Active Duty and then went into the Guard. I was also full time when I was in the Guard for a while on ADOS. I have been offered a few AGR jobs but I ended up going back into the Regular Army. First, AGR jobs are hard to come by. They usually try to hire from within but you can still apply. The issue is that some unit may have someone in mind for a position before even opens. If you are that far out from your ETS I would say that you are way ahead of the game. The Guard has more AGR positions but they vary by MOS and what units are in that state.

Going into the Reserves is not unlike a PCS move. Once you get your DD214 and ETS, you report to wherever your Reserves unit you signed up for is. A little prior to my ETS, I met with the Reserves recruiter and he wrote my contract and had my Reserve unit and I contacted their S3 and was told when and where to report.
