Are the Marines the only service that refer to their Battalion Commanders as "The Boss"?

CWO3 (Join to see), I don't know about the Army now, but I always called my Bn CO "Sir"! ;)

Only in the Artillery Branches did BC get complicated(Battery Commander vs Battalion Commander)

MAJ John Adams
LTC John Mohor - Battery Commander vs Company Commander (or Troop Commander for me). Or Battalion Commander vs Squadron Commander for us old cavalrymen.

I am unaware of this custom, always used Sir or one time it was Ma’am, 24 years in the Marines across all elements of the MAGTF. Think this is isolated.
We always referred to Company CO as Skipper and BN CO as The Old Man. Both were intended as a signs of respect and not age. Sir always worked as well. Most CWOs were on first name basis with Company CO, but never around enlisted. Different world in the Infantry but it seemed much the same for them during my time in 78-98. If an enlisted was going up for BN Office Hours he was going to see The Old Man.
