hello. I'm currently on assignment to Camp Casey Korea. But I'm planning to put in for command sponsorship packet. I'm a SGT (P) with a wife and two kids.

I was wondering if any one could help me out on how to get it approved. I've already started the EFMP screening.

EFMP will make it harder. There are not the same resources in Korea for EFMP than there are in CONUS. Also, I heard that they were decreasing the amount of CSP for Korea due to the move of forces to Cp Humphrey and the change to unit rotation model. I hear Korea is going back to being a hardship tour. Talk with your HR folks, they can give you the process for applying for it. But you definately need to get it done prior to going over as it will change your length of tour and orders.

Having a child in EFMP will make it harder, particularly at Camp Casey. Most major support facilities are in Seoul, and while it is easier to get back and forth now, it will be tough. As a SGT (P) your first hurdle will be to get a command sponsorship billet so you can be authorized to bring your family over in the first place. I don't know what kind of a unit you are in, but having commanded in Korea, it will be hard for you to get a billet. Recommend you talk to the 1SG about the billet. If you are on orders and not to a command sponsored slot, you need to contact your gaining unit just to start the dialog.

Very sound advice Sir. As I served in the ROK in the 70s and 80s I can not offer any advice.

If you get EFMP approved for command sponsorship, they'll change your duty station to Yongsan/Seoul.

This may be great for troop morale; however, I think it may with mission readiness. In the event of possible conflict, reaction time may too much.
