How is the Morale at your Base? Not as in Base Climate, but rather base wide/shop Morale sponsored events.

All the units I have been stationed have had very high participation in base wide morale events. I've even been the Morale Officer for one of the Training Centers for the Coast Guard and always wondered if this was the same atmosphere for other services. I know the Coast Guard is smaller than most, but how do you feel about your base's Morale sponsored events?

Here at NKAIA, Afghanistan it's a bit hard to distinguish which events are sponsored by the MWA and which are sponsored by various national contingents - the Portuguese held a "Infantry Day" run, the Spanish did a 2K "Crossfeet" event, the French held various events for Bastille Day, etc...
That said, I don't think there's more than a 50% turnout for much of anything - usually far less.

Sporting and Fitness events are great, but maybe it needs to be more than just a fitness event. We would have events like soap box derbies, July 4th galas, Command sponsored Holiday Parties. Something where everyone can share some camaraderie.
