Just go to CIF with your orders and draw a full size ruck if you have to ask this question or can't follow the packing list maybe you need to stay enlisted come on NCO lead the way!!!!!

I understood, but you message can be misunderstood by some. All NCOs aren't the brightest. I don't agree with the initial answer either, but take into consideration that you might be a part of a different generation of Soldier. I have 16 years in and will tell you that when I was a PVT I would have shrugged this off and continued to find someone who would give me the right answer..... or as your message possibly could have misconstrued; the answer that I wanted.

SSG (Join to see) - Really? Your a SSG which means you have been to PLDC or whatever they call it now I think Warrior something....probably been to BNOC each one of those NCO's schools had a packing list. and I bet you understood that and had everything now attending Warrant school and we suddenly forgot all of that? Your right on one thing I'm from a different generation. SMDH...... bc an NCO is stating all NCO's aren't the brightest.....NCO's and Soldiers are smarter than ever before.....

1. Are you saying that all NCOs are the brightest?
2. Who exactly forgot what about a packing list?
3. I did not grow up in a professional environment in the Army, and only noticed that when I started handling NCO business. I had to learn to become a professional; your generation is who taught me how to answer a question with a question. This type of leadership is inefficient to say the least.
4. I know what my Rank is, and also what proffesional schools I have attended; no need to reiterate for me.

You will need a full size ruck sack. I was at MotherRucker in 2014 and we needed the full size ruck with frame. Use it on the road march for sure. They don't play around with the packing list. TAKE EXACTLY WHAT THEY TELL YOU TO BRING! ;-)

I think CW2 (Join to see) has it nailed, WO1 (Join to see). When I went to OCS (a million years ago), those that did not bring what was required, suffered. It's hard enough without bringing needless heat on yourself right out of the chute for not doing what they asked before you arrive. I can hear it now. "This guy can't follow instructions." "This guy thinks he knows what he needs for our course better than we do."
Get the large rucksack.

I was there in 2013 and I'm pretty sure that you can get the ruck issued at CIF while in processing. They will issue everyone gear for purposes of uniformity. If that ruck was all you were issued then bring it, and bring your CIF records as proof.

I was there in '09 and seem to recall having the ability to draw certain OCIE / TA-50 items if you didn't have them, like you said, for uniformity sake.
