Just notified my scroll was signed for promotion to CPT. I've been a company commander since March 2016 and my new DOR is this week. The only explanation I have for that 543 day delay is bureaucracy. Anyone have an idea of why reserve officer promotions are taking 18 months?

The process is a real mess that's for sure.

I've looked and can't find a regulation that lays out the process or timeline for UVPs. I know I'm not alone.

It's frustrating doing the job without the rank and losing TIG towards the next, all due to paperwork. It feels like the organization forgot how to promote.

Its the FEDREC process which takes so long. Now officers of all grades must go through the same process (with some added steps for COL and above). Plenty of discussions on here about it. You can check this out if you want:

I've read the thread and didn't get any by-regulation answers. My state fedrec happened in December, 9 months after I started command, and the scroll took 180 days in DoD approval cycle.
