You can take out a loan afterwards and still have it paid back.

Just be sure it's the right kind. Private loans, like SallieMae, aren't. Be sure its a qualifying loan.

Thank you sergeant for clearing that up. One other thing if you don't mind. is it possible if the loan is small enough to have the army completely pay it off, i plan on going for my bachelors which i four years and around 1,500$ per semester which should equal to around 12,000$ in student loans total not an exact estimate but around that. Since the SLRP i qualified for said it covered up to 30,000$ because of the 12w contract.

If you have a $30K SLRP, the Army will pay $30k of student loans, yep.

Be sure you get all the documentation and be SURE to have everything set up in GoArmyEd. Can be confusing, so definitely have your education office help you out- or if Guard/Reserve, find someone else in your unit who's done it.
