SFC Stephen King I believe in the oath today, as I did so many years ago.
(a) Enlistment Oath.— Each person enlisting in an armed force shall take the following oath:
"I, (state name of enlistee), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

I not only took that oath but also administered it countless times. The Division Reenlistment Officer shared a hooch with me in Vietnam and was usually off somewhere when his "clients" showed up. I always considered it an honor to administer the oath and I hope that I set an example that the young men I swore in felt it.

I knew exactly what it constituted. The wording was pretty clear. Once that oath expired, I ended taking this one:
"I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."
Seems I can't get away from them lol

I did but I was older than most. I didn't enlist until after finishing college and law school. It makes a difference, a big difference.
