While reading the Army Times I came across this article.

http://www.armytimes.com/article/20141015/NEWS/310150075/Army-leaders-assure-families-they-re-sticking-up-them-budget-fight

A few months ago GEN Dempsey came to Fort Bliss, and all Commanders and SNCOs had to go. Since I was the only NCO in my company for whatever reason on that day, I went with my Commander to see the JCS give his speech. He told us then that the JCS, along with each branch was fighting with the policymakers in order to fix the budget, and they are being met with resistance the entire way. I just don't understand why that is the case.

Shouldn't the policymakers see how cutting the military would affect National Security.

Yes SFC(P) (Join to see) , they see it but because of their selfishness they rather cut the military, but keep their salaries.
