So as some may know, last year there was a revision to the Tattoo Policy in the Marine Corps. I have 2 visible tattoos in uniform that I’ve had for 2-3 years. When the policy was revised one of them is out of regulation, but at the time my SNCO told me it was fine. Now I’m putting in a reenlistment package and its not within regs and there’s no documentation of it prior to the revision date.

I don't think they will over turn it at this point i mean if it was fully disqualifying they wouldn't even have let you put together the packet is it already routing?

Definitely will. I’ll know by the end of the week at the latest. PFC (Join to see)

You're supposed to update your tattoo record when you get a new tattoo. They have you fill those out for a good reason.

This is a PDF and is dated 3 June 2017 so unless there's been a change it should be current. The Command should be current. Career Planner and Chain of Command can get straight scoop if this is not it. Always best if in doubt, to go to the Order because scuttlebutt is often bum scoop. Good luck and Stay Marine.

I appreciate it sir, guess I was informed wrong on how far below the elbow the Tattoo must fall. Was told it was 2” when it’s 1” it seems I shouldn’t have any issues with it.

Cpl (Join to see) - no sweat, the insert box seems to be FUBAR but the URL worked for me, it's a good place to start, you could always chop an arm off if that's what it takes, depending on how bad you want to stay....j/k ok? Things must really be tight because shipping over was no big deal when I was in if you were good to go, make sure you read everything over good before signing the line, not a bad idea to have a SNCO come along and put a sanity check on it either, I had a CP screw up a package once in 81 and it was a pain, had to petition BCNR to straighten it out, (Board for Correction of Naval Records), minor admin error that required all sorts of BS to straighten out, just had dates wrong but it matters when it comes to official records and white-out don't cut it
