I sat on the FY14 SGM board and a big thing was “Broadening” assignments. A common issue in the USAR (probably more so in the NG) is Soldiers staying in the same unit for the majority (in some cases all) of their junior enlisted career. I have my own opinions as to career fields and units, but what do you feel are good opportunities for an “additional” MOS or type of unit you would recommend to “Broaden” the experience of a young Soldier?

Always a good question and good point but In my case how much more broad an experience can one person get. 2 Flag Staff Commands, 1 direct support for a Flag Staff, 2 ships, 3 Naval Security Group Dept/Det/Acts. Job Titles, NWP Custodian, SAS Custodian, Photographer, TACINTEL Boss, Admiral Aide, Master at Arms. WWMCCS Tech Control Division Officer. Operations Watch Chief, Leading Petty Officer. Security Alert Team. My Dance Card was pretty full by the time I retired and it really didn't help me much.
