I am currently stationed at Camp Walker. There are certain variables that will determine where you live. If you are coming with your family, and there are apartments available in family housing on Camp George (10 mins away from Camp Walker) you will stay there. If there are no apartments available you will stay off-post. If you are coming unaccompanied and there are rooms available in the senior barracks you will stay on-base, if there are no rooms available you will stay off-post. Any other questions, let me know. I have been stationed at Camp Walker for 22 months, with 2 months remaining.

Thanks for answering. I am single and will only be bringing myself. The biggest question is whether or not I bring my household goods?

I was stationed at Camp Walker and a 1SG as well. If you are coming as a Geo Batchelor you are not going to be able to bring all of your stuff with you. With incoming NCO's we usually did not have BOQ space available but that is not always the case so you can't bank on it. The BOQ is bigger than a barracks room so if you go by the JTR requirements you should be fine. Getting off post is really a crap shoot and you wouldn't want to bring more than you would have room for. I'd say the BOQ is like a small one bedroom apartment. It had a small kitchen that you could cook in, fridge, stove, etc. and small living area and one bedroom and a full bathroom. You will enjoy Camp Walker though. There are tons of things to do and I really miss Korea.

MSG (Join to see) - What happens if I bring my HHG but end up living on post? Does it go into storage in Korea? Again, I'm single I don't have that much stuff, couch, tv, bed, dresser, other miscellaneous stuff but well under my weight limit.

I found this info from MilitaryOneSource about that particular area:

Unaccompanied Personnel Housing

Eligibility for unaccompanied personnel housing is E-7 (SFC) and above. All unaccompanied E-7 and above must report to the Housing Office for assignment to BOQ, SOQ, or SEQ. If on-post unaccompanied housing is not available within 30-60 days of arrival, Soldier will be issued a certificate of non-availability. Soldiers will be given a list of registered realtors to assist with finding adequate housing. This process can take up to two weeks.
