What resources does the Army offer for resume writing (haven't been to Soldier For Life yet)?

Through SFL-TAP, you can get assistance for resume writing. The USO also provides services on installations. If you go to the Soldier For Life website (https://soldierforlife.army.mil) and click on the Employment page, there are several listed resources, to include DOL-VETS. One of the pieces of advice I have received is to reach out through LinkedIn to the HR person at the business you are interested in joining, and request feedback on your resume, as each business wants something slightly different and you can't use a generic resume for all job applications. Additional tools you can use are LinkedIn, which offers a free 1-yr premium membership to transitioning service members and has a resume tutorial. Koch Industries has a guide to help translate your military to civilian job titles at https://www.kochind.com/veterans/military_tips.html. Hiring Our Heroes Resume Engine has mobile capability so you can work on your resume on your phone. Hire Heroes USA assigns a transition specialist to help you craft your resume. Corporate America Support You and Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (CASY-MSSN) also provides no-cost support and training. These are just a few of the resources available to you as you transition out of the service. Good luck!

They'll offer you a book, general tips, and professional advice. I'd recommend talking with other Veterans in the field(s) you wish to persue to get better drafts. There's also "Hire Our Heroes". I'd also suggest rechecking your resume after every interview to see what you can add.

SFL-TAP offers resume writing classes. Also, if you have a USO on post, they should have something for you. Don't forget about ACS as well.
