I once went for a job interview, first we spoke on the phone of course. When I showed up in person he said, "oh I thought you would be meaner and covered in tattoos"...

SGT Joseph Gunderson - I guess not. He had a preconceived notion/image of what a Veteran was/is and I didn't meet his expectations.

My grandfather served during Vietnam, he never really talked about it until my brother and I joined up. I have trouble wrapping my mind around it. People thank me and all I can think about is guys like my grandfather coming back and no one thanked them.

PV2 Robert Benjamin - I think if you asked most Vietnam vets they would say we didn't want the thanks,but only the recognition of serving the Country during those trying times,enlisted or drafted we all were sent where others would not go and experienced life changing parts of our lives we carry to this day.I consider your grandfather my Brother and welcome him home this day.

They assume we are all combat veterans and we know their relative/best friend who was also in the service.
