Can you re-class and get the bonus without reenlisting?

You cannot voluntarily reclass within your current enlistment obligation and still keep the bonus that way tied to that enlistment. It is essentially a breach of contract on your part. If you are involuntarily forced to reclass then the bonus is safe.

I'm going to re-enlist but reclass will not be my re-enlistment option. I'm told I lose the reclass option when I decline my 12N mos reclass that I'm slotted for. Essentially I chose to re up n reclass for 12N. (Have not signed a contract yet) but am slotted for reclass April next year. I do not wish to reclass to 12N and want another MOS. I was told I can choose not reclass to 12N but I will then lose the option to reclass for my re-enlistment which leaves me for the other 4 options. I wonder if I take a regular renlistment just 4 more years can I volunteer to reclass to another mos and get that bonus. My mos is overstrength and the mos I want is short. 15P N/Y 15E Y/N

Unfortunately I've reached the limit of my knowledge for this subject. I can't really offer anything for your specific situation. You would be best finding a recruiter or very knowledgeable 42A to ask.

The bonus offered for that job falls under the SRB program. So the only way to get it is reenlisting to reclass for that MOS or reenlisting when you're already in that MOS.

I reclassed from an over strength one (11b) to and understrenght (25s). I didn't get a bonus whatsoever. I signed 2016 if that is any help.

Read the FY 17 SRIP...... it explains everything you need to know about bonus, reenlistment bonuses.
