How long until a 1380 is required to be processed?

I perform military funerals. My understanding is that it's supposed to be processed within 72 hours of receipt of the 1380. I recently turned one in and it hasn't been processed and it's been a week. Last month I had a similar issue...I was told it was processed, but it wasn't actually processed until 2 weeks later with my reserve drill pay. Should I file a complaint?

Anytime the standard is not met, someone needs to know. Otherwise, it will not be fixed.

This comes down to business practices.
From a leader perspective, I expect things, particularly pay, to be processed in a timely manner.
The way I did it when I was responsible for pay was to do all of it on Friday unless I had a good reason to do it sooner, such as orders over 10 days in duration where you can (and should) put them in for pay once the SM has reported for muster. This worked out really well, as I could manage my time much better doing all my weekly pay actions in a half hour as opposed to 15 minutes every day (I was in a unit that had people coming and going a lot).
There is a wrinkle to this that is a little wonky but might give some insight. RLAS RM Module (where pay is processed for Reserve personnel) has what the reg calls pulls and production dates. Basically, the data when you execute a pay action does not go to DFAS daily, but rather on the "pull" dates - roughly 8-10 times a month. Pay is subsequently executed on the ensuing "production" dates, and deposited 3-5 days after that. For example, if I were to "pay" a 1380 today and the pull date was tomorrow (let's say Friday) and the production date was next Monday, you would get your money in hand the following Thursday or so. Looks like nothing happened for a week, but in actuality the processing happened as it should. There can be as much as twelve days from flash to bang, all things considered.
Having said that, processing a 1380 and doing the Transmittal Letter takes about 60 seconds for an individual action. If the UA sits on pay actions routinely and only does it once a month after Drill, that is a no go. In that case, the commander needs to get involved. The commander need only to look at his commander's pay report (that he is supposed to review and sign every month) to find out the truth.

I agree, no excuse to sit on 1380's until the end of the month, does not take that long to process.

SPC Voye, per USAR PAM 37-1, 3-2k, "You must create a TL in ADARS for unit attendance within 24 hrs of completion of the unit BA. You must... for individual drill attendance within 72 hrs OF RECEIPT of a DA Form 1380". Key word; of receipt. As a UA, when I receive any type of pay I reply with "received, will pay" but unfortunately a lot of UAs just leave their Soldiers hanging. Hope this helps
