I'm currently mobilized with my unit, however when I return I would like to seek an active duty commission. I am a senior with 2 semesters of undergrad left, so if I were to do ROTC it would require a graduate degree. Active duty OCS would require a Conditional Release, unless I wait my contract out (about 7 months after I graduate college). I would appreciate any insight into either path.

Now is a perfect time. Regular Army is looking to increase the number of LTs.

Hopefully it stays that way, I'm deploying so college graduation is looking like May of 2019

Direct commission into NG in an open LT slot or use a NG scholarship for the last year. Then Google call to active duty, the active Army will likely pull you from your basic course into AD, if not just wait and use NG mobilization and look for opportunities.

Hi LTC John, I have been board selected for Direct Commission Jan 2017. Currently awaiting scroll to commission. I am wondering how the process works as far as getting released from my enlistment contract. I submitted my conditional release form which got approved before I could even board but now my recruiter thinks I need to get released from my contract before I can commission. I do not see how I can get released without showing some form of documentation about my board selection. Any advise would be helpful. Thank you

SPC (Join to see) - 1st Congratulations. I would suggest, since direct commissions are rare, you contact whoever notified you, that you were selected. I am guessing most of us, unless we were recently DC, have no idea how this wall works. Generally (OCS, Green to Gold etc) being commissioned generates an honorable discharge the very same day. The day I was commissioned (OCS) I also had an honorable discharge certificate...
