Should we bring back the Pledge of Allegiance? I remember as I went through Grade School we use to say this every morning and it gave me a sense of pride and purpose each day! Are the youth of today missing this and will they every understand what it truly means?
Your thoughts and comments are welcome?
THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Our Pledge of Allegiance as we know it is fast becoming a thing of the past. Kids used to say the Pledge of Allegiance along with a prayer before starting the day’s activities.
Below you will see the very touching recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance as told by Red Skelton. They Pledge as we should still teach our children.
Also listed is the “Global Earth Day Pledge” that our children are learning today. Again this is Global. Everything will go global in the “End Times”. This is just another way to ease everyone into it. Be Prepared. It is coming.
On January 14, 1969, Red Skelton touched the hearts of millions of Americans with his "Pledge Of Allegiance", in which he explained the meaning of each and every word. Red Skelton's recitation of the "Pledge of Allegiance" was twice read into the Congressional Record of the United States and received numerous awards.
RED SKELTON: "I remember this one teacher. To me, he was the greatest teacher, a real sage of my time. He had such wisdom. We were all reciting the Pledge Of Allegiance and he walked over. Mr. Lasswell was his name... He said": "I've been listening to you boys and girls recite the Pledge Of Allegiance all semester and it seems as though it is becoming monotonous to you. If I may, may I recite it and try to explain to you the meaning of each word:
I
Me; an individual; a committee of one.
Pledge
Dedicate all of my worldly goods to give without self-pity.
Allegiance
My love and my devotion.
To the Flag
Our standard; Old Glory ; a symbol of Freedom; wherever she waves there is respect, because your loyalty has given her a dignity that shouts, Freedom is everybody's job.
of the United
That means that we have all come together.
States
Individual communities that have united into forty-eight great states. Forty-eight individual communities with pride and dignity and purpose. All divided with imaginary boundaries, yet united to a common purpose, and that is love for country.
And to the Republic
Republic -- a state in which sovereign power is invested in representatives chosen by the people to govern. And government is the people; and it's from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people.
For which it stands
One Nation
One Nation -- meaning, so blessed by God.
Indivisible
Incapable of being divided.
With Liberty
Which is Freedom; the right of power to live one's own life, without threats, fear, or some sort of retaliation.
And Justice
The principle, or quality, of dealing fairly with others.
For All
For All -- which means, boys and girls, it's as much your country as it is mine. And now, boys and girls, let me hear you recite the Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it stands; one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

This shows how out of touch I am. I didn't know they STOPPED saying the Pledge in schools. It goes to explain so much of what is wrong with this generation.

SSG Paul Ellis - Double Thumbs up and they've only stopped in about 50 percent of the schools around the nation. I agree there is porblem with new generations that lack discipline and parenting. Have a great day Paul!

I don’t know which communist states have stopped having the pledge recited in the schools, but in the public school where I have worked for the past 17 years it is done every school day.

Hell yes....This is why I'm so Patriotic and why I joined the military and why I followed in my fathers footsteps....Doing this everyday in school helped me respect my (our) Country. And made me whom I am today....

As I said in another thread, my part of the country is vert patriotic. The main TV station covering the region shows the Elementary School classes reciting the Pledge twice a day. And, I have never heard a complaint. BTW, prayers are also heard at most events. It is not mandatory to participate, but 99% do, regardless of personal beliefs.

PFC John Lanni
SFC Tony Bennett - That will never change for you because you sew division and accept the injustices you may have been dealt. I myself would not stand for injustice to myself and as important others. When injustice occurs to other with my knowledge and do not respond through proper channels addressing this issue, I know injustice is coming my way as well. Power and authority do not single out those that will fight for their rights, it singles out the weak. Many submit and become the problem. Fighting for the wrong cause just for the good feeling of fighting for something accomplishes nothing. Hold your head high and fight for the right causes. Divided we fall Brother.

Gee I never thought it left-Since I've retired I occasionally substitute teach at schools in several local school districts here and have subbed in grades kindergarten to 12th grade. I can't think of a time in any class homeroom that I've been in that the day hasn't started with the Pledge of Allegiance! And oh yes-I've never had a student who refused to stand and/or recite the Pledge, this also includes one school in a local district that caters to students who are all of the Muslin religion!

COL Mark Crowley - That's because 9 men wearing dresses, who we didn't vote for said so. (The same revered legal body that said people of color weren't equal, Jim Crowe was OK, and so was 'separate but equal.") They're basically batting "0." AKA as the "US Supremely Stupid Court."
