Is it possible to reclassify (change MOS) into the Army as a prior service Marine of the E6 type?

Yes, I had a buddy that did, go talk to an Army recruiter, they will know or find the path for you.

I think I'm gonna try to talk to a recruiter at another recruiting center. The one closer to be... their "Center Leader" is kind of a jerk. He was the one that said that once I'm sent down to MEPS, I would. HAVE to pick whatever MOS they have available and that I will have no option to just walk away. Plus he's pretty cocky and I'm not trying to deal with him again.

SSgt (Join to see) - there's nothing worst than an egotistical recruiter find one that works for you not tries to intimidate you- emphasis on tries, don't sign anything until you are completely satisfied, another option may be to find a retention NCO at an active duty unit, they may be easier to work with as long as they will play ball

Yeah the other guys at that recruiting center, ranging from SGT through SFC all have some sense of decorum and humility. But that "Center Leader" (who was a SSG when I first met him and then later picked up SFC) have no class at all and even when speaking to a SFC while he was still a SSG. I know in the Marine Corps if I were to address a Gunnery Sergeant rudely as a Staff Sergeant I'd get slapped in the face.
Thanks for the advice.

I'd go talk to a recruiter, hard to find one that's willing to do paperwork for more than a fresh recruit (took me about 4 recruiting stations to find one). I believe the business rules state that they aren't taking any prior service E-6's and the only way to reclassify from an MOS is if your current/previous MOS isn't accepting any. So more or less depends on if you're willing to lose the rocker and what MOS's are currently available and you're willing to take at the time you go to talk with them. Good luck brotha.

Thanks for the response. Having recently dropped into the IRR 3 weeks ago, I have close to 12 years of time-in-service in the military so far. My MOS in the Marine Corps 1341, which from my understanding no longer have a direct Army enlisted equivalent other than 919A/Engineer Equipment Maintenance Warrant Officer.
I spoke with the local Army recruiter about 6 months ago actually. While he said that there is no way for me to go active duty, I can go reservist. The MOS that I really want is 15T or 15U, in hopes of becoming a crew chief or an enlisted air crew in some way. He provided me a list of 15T and 15U vacancies of Army reserve units near me.
But I was also told that once I am sent down to MEPS, I would HAVE to sign up for whatever available MOS they have on hand at the time with no chance to decline in the event that neither match my aptitude and professional interest. This sounds very fishy to me.
Right now I really just first want to verify if it's even possible to transfer into the Army as an existing E6 in the Marine Corps.

SSgt (Join to see) - Yeah, In no way, shape or form do I have complete knowledge of the recruiting world especially when it comes to cross branches, but I've had a lot experiences with recruiting stations and how they function on my road to returning active duty. I do know that if the last time you went to visit them was 6mo ago I'd definitely make the trip back in. A ton of the requirements and guidelines have changed within the last month, especially pertaining to prior service. Other than the whole "you have to sign up with whatever MOS" deal is definitely fishy and untrue. Now if you signed up for an MOS you qualified for and went to whatever AIT/prior service retraining you had to do and then failed.. you would become "needs of the army" and they could then send you to an MOS you didn't initially sign up for.

SSgt (Join to see) - Currently, 15U (CH-47 Repairer) is understrength. We are and have been a STAR MOS for a while. Should be easy to get 15U. Good Luck!

I left the 15T school house 2 yrs ago (Ret) but i think a few years agi they stopped allowing NCOs from other MOSs, come into aviation. There was a problem with junior enlistes looking to the NCI cor knowledge and there was none. Ebsn if you were an E4 promotable you lost your promotable status. May be different for guard but I don't think so. Good luck though!!
