Great article from 2002 about COL (ret.) Rick Rescorla. Many who have read We Were Soldiers Once and Young are familiar with him. Long story short, a man who was a seasoned veteran by the time he led men into the Ia Drang Valley ended up making his greatest contribution on 9/11/2001 when he is credited with saving the lives of 2700 people, while losing his own.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the article.

For those who didn't know, the picture of a soldier wielding an M16 with fixed bayonet on the cover of the book is Rescorla.

The man was a hero in every sense of the word from Ia Drang right up to his untimely death. If you haven't read "We Were Solders One and Young..." Its a MUST for every leader E & O.
