Temporary financial assistance...any suggestions?

I was unemployed for a few months and fell behind on my bills I now work a full time job and a part time job, but am struggling to catch up. Does anyone know of any resources for temporary assistance? Thank you in advance.

There are programs through the VFW and the American Legion that you may be eligible for (you do not have to be a member for either). I don't know the specifics of your situation, nor would I ask you to share here, but I am sending you the links to the national websites for both programs. The other thing you may want to try Sgt Melissa Walker is contacting anyone you have a loan with - car, home, etc. They will more than likely defer your payments for a period. Also try the utility companies, they can temporarily drop your rate. I am doing this as we speak as I'm in a similar situation at the moment
You will need to have a letter from your former employer stating you were laid off but in good standing with the company - you weren't laid of because you did something wrong or weren't making it at the job. Also state that you are now under-employed, as you say - working at a job not commensurate with your degree. Its all worth a shot.

I live in NYC there is no such thing as a break on the rent lol it keeps getting higher. They are working with me so far as I have never been late in 3 years till now but they will only work with me so much because if they get me out they can re rent it for 300$ more than I am paying now

Sgt Melissa Walker - I am originally from NY, Bushwick section of Brooklyn, and I know how expensive NY is because I still have family living there. If there is anyway to move out of NY it is the best thing you can do IMHO.

I would put in for a transfer and change my MOS if I had to. Try for one of bases in FL, or AL or SC. Living expenses are much less there.

You can also take out an aer for vets they might possibly convert it to a grant for unforeseen financial issues.
