I've tried looking this up but couldn't very far.
S1 has 42A and occasionally 27D
S4 has 92A

Does it matter depending on the Shop or is it just an assignment?

That happens a lot also when there is a lack of 42As. When I first got to FT Lewis we had FA filling in.

S1/S4 are put together as an ALOC during deployments but both MOS' work and fall under their sections. S1 is the PAC with 42As, sometimes legal, and Chaplain Asts normally fall under S1. S4 will have their supply NCOs and SPCs

SGT Justin Lamb - S4 kept me busy on deployment especially when we were downsizing and closing some JCOPs and a large FOB. We turned in or transferred a lot of equipment and property that year. Got rid of excess MILVANs, CONNEXs and ISU-90s just sitting around these areas.

Sounds like your deployment was good and busy to make the time pass quicker SirCPT Jacob Swartout -

SGT Justin Lamb - Long days and nights for me. Well worth it though and with the some experience to put on my resume.

I was temporarily a part of an S1 and I do remember them going over ALOC. S2 is intel and S3 is training and operations and I believe they work with S5? S6 is comm.

So with S3 is it random assignment or is there a specific MOS that does operations?

Each unit has your job slots if there is any. In my unit I have my own slots to fill.
