Traveling More than 4 time zones starts to effect me, how do you deal with it?

If you're able to make your own flight arrangements, I find it helpful to fly overnight when going East so that the plane lands in the morning.

I'm not from New York, neither do I care how much Jets are lagging, regardless of what time zone they're playing at ;-) Seahawks all the way!

I was just messing with New York Jets, SPC Randy Torgerson! But in reality my family and I were stationed in Okinawa, Japan, for 3 years. That's 13 time zones difference. We took leave twice coming stateside to Eastern time zone.

You just have to prepare mentally before you leave that you'll feel out of element prior to arriving. To an extent it would help if you don't get much sleep the night prior to departure. Once you arrive to a new time zone however, just be prepared on not being to sleep properly at least for the first couple of days, that was norm for us. If you are tossing and turning at night, just stay relaxed, get up, walk around, read something.

Wouldn't recommend watching tv as it may disrupt any chance for circadian rhythm. Bottom line: just accept it and don't fight it!

PO1 (Join to see) Great recovery, Maverick! Sarcasm is an art form at times. SPC Randy Torgerson I am following this thread closely. If you solve this issue you may get the Nobel prize. When I flew to Alaska from AZ I lost days. Then, It was 11pm and still light outside. My brain almost went into melt down.

Haha, I hear ya. I usually do pretty well. I just got back from Croatia to California. I am finding it takes me about 2 good nights of sleep before I can say I'm back to normal.

Sleep:) It will take a few weeks to even a couple months for some folks to acclimate to time zone change. Unfortunately that is hard if you have to do a return trip before you can acclimate.
