Has anyone here been through the process of being released from the National Guard to go Active Duty?

I'm getting released from National Guard to go Active Duty wanted to know how long is the process? I'm now awaiting to hear back from the Colonel at state.

I started to and got done on the national guard end. It was pretty easy. All I did was tell my unit what my intentions were. I think I may have had to write a statement of intent. Then I had to turn in all my gear. Once I had cleared supply it was only a matter of a couple weeks until I got my conditional release.

I have all of my signatures I'm waiting now for the colonel to sign how long it will be before I hear back

If I remember right mine was approved within a month. It all depends on how on top of things your unit is. I think the only place mine got hung up was at the Brigade level. It has to go to a general officer. I've heard of them taking the better part of a year. Just keep checking up

I did back in the early 90's, it took getting the state IG involved for my guard unit to release me. Other than that your active duty recruiter does all the work.
