OK, here it is: I have to admit that over the past several years, I've let myself slip, and with 50 rapidly approaching, I have found myself needing to shed some pounds, so I joined a gym, and started a diet.

Here's the part I want to share: My boss at work and I cooked up what we call an "Accountability Diet". We do our own thing (for me it's limiting my intake to meats and vegetables and exercising), and each Monday we weigh in and report our progress via group text message. There are 4 of us working at it like this. If you need to "firm up" I highly suggest this...it brings out my competitive nature, and I've dropped 15 pounds in 3 weeks!

Competition whether just for the heck of it or because there is a prize at the end can be one heck of a motivational tool.
