So what is everyone's opinion on congress cutting retirement for veterans?

I think it's atrocious. It's Congress' pensions that should be cut. 

I will support a reduction on our benefit package as soon as congress enacts a similar and proportional reduction in their benefit package.

I feel personally that even a majority of politicians on the hill have never actually been overseas or even served in the military; they should not be afforded a vote on issues that affect the future retirees or current ones....  I would like to revoke 27th ammendment..Congressional Compensation Amendment of 1789; reason being it was designed to ensure leaders were during their jobs and being paid even in times of financial crisis.  They voted and chipped away at benefits recently like chipping away at an iceberg instead of trying to chip away at their own salaries or cut social programs that are just not workng (OBAMACARE) anyone....hey what is interesting to date no one has finalized investigations on topics including but not limited to :::::  Benghazi 9/11; Gen. Petraeus; the other Generals caught E.O. and Sharp violators; Misaaprpriation of funds....; and what is the deal with VA Hospitals are we ever going to fix these organizations....?  Should Senior Officers regardless of record if violators of UCMJ receive full compensation and benefits???  That costs money .... It is really a kick in the gut for those who have served more than 4 deployments and although it was staggered in a means of 9-12 month breaks the deployments took their tolls on the Soldiers and leaders that now serve.  Is Congress really sending a message that it was all for nothing and the incentive of a 20yr career after 10yrs of war so far is going to be compensated in terms of the movie "SPEED" crappy pention and a cheap gold watch..???  Will Washington political leaders have the courage to dissolve this ammendment and develop a plan that works?  Stop cutting at the knees all the country is doing is sending a message that any incentive to serve longer than an initial contract is not worth it.  this will domino effect over a couple of decades and spill into military disfunction and chaos... the development of crappy future leaders will ensue becaus ethose will be the only ones wanting to stay in for pennines when the others can learn a trade and get out and make dollars.
