Super old post I know, but I was online trying to find polish wings for my uniform and came across this. The Polish Commander today said the number in the front represents the number of jumps the person has.

If you around Fort Bragg, they sell the wings at clothing and sells with a 7 on it.

Apparently it's the number of jumps (still verifying) also read it as which company of the independent brigade... ymmv

SSG Brandon Williamson - More than Likely I would say the unit ID. This is what I found on Wiki.

Search this: 1st Independent Parachute Brigade (Poland)

Towards the bottom is shows the different Airborne(Parachutist) units in the Polish Army. This is a copy paste from Wiki. I copied the Last Battalion.
