Is it possible to get 5 months unrated time on an NCOER?

This is more for my personal knowledge than for a course of action (my NCOER is currently being written) but here's what I am wondering. My last THRU date is 30SEP16, my company shut down and I transferred on 01OCT16. I am PCS'ing 03MAR17, which totals 5 months. Due to reasons, I am being placed in a rear detachment company until I PCS. If my transfer was made effective before 01JAN17, I would have less than the required 90 days in the unit, and then less than the required 90 days in rear detachment before I PCS'ed. Would it be possible to go 5 months without unrated time and report to my new unit without an NCOER?

It is possible. In lieu of a NCOER, you can and should get a memo that states your rater did not have the prescribed amount of time to rate you. I've had to do that twice due to PCS timing.

Sounds good, thank you. As of right now it looks like my NCOER will be written and will cover the 5 months. I had suggested this alternative to my 1SG due to op tempo, amount of time left to write it, and the limited amount of bullets that can be pulled from the time I had in this company. I thought it would be easier, but he said it'll be written anyways.
