Why is it more popular to leave a paper trail then electronic?

Do both.
Systems fail. Paper gets lost.
It is much harder and unluckier to have both happen to the same item.

I do my taxes every year by hand and have hard copies. Some electronic records are only kept for ten years or a year. I can go back and look at previous returns because I have the hard copy. With electronic recordfs, that might not be the case.

I do the same! Always have hard copies (usually multiple), taxes, medical records, any important document.

In all seriousness websites like iPerms go down and records are lost. But fires and moves happen and paper is destroyed or lost. I keep both if I can, if it is important enough.
