The variety has improved. There are currently 24 menu options including Brisket, Tuna with Lemon Pepper, Grilled Beef patty with Jalapeno Jack, and Spinach, Mushroom & Cream Sauce Fettuccine.
Makes me hungry just typing about it!

I liked C-Rats also but they were heavier than MREs. I was light infantry for a while so MREs could save me many Lbs on toting chow. Early menus sucked but they always got better over time. Everyone hated the chicken chow main. Any time you got back to the TOC late after a missed meal you could count on plenty of CCM being available and nothing else. I am glad that one is gone. I never had K-Rats, it was before my time I guess.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter - I have not had a MRE since 1981 and I was stationed at FT ord California we were training at FT Irwin for 2 weeks.
