What are your thoughts on the reserve reclass course for 37F being so short in comparison to the active duty pipeline?

Did you end up going 37F? I am coming from Active duty as a Marine, waiting on grade determination to come into the USAR for 37F

I am working with my career counselor to get some paperwork processed. I should start drilling with the PSYOP unit next month. I'm very excited about the new opportunity as I understand PSYOP units get a lot more in the way of slots for schooling. I'm all about taking advantage of every school that I can. I think it'll be a great fit! Congrats on your transition to the Army! If you have any questions along the way I would be more than happy to provide whatever assistance that I can!

Thanks, it is looking like I'll be drilling with the unit in December from what my recruiter is telling me. I'll be going to 340th Pysop Company. I'm pretty excited. We had a Pysop team attached to us in Afghanistan so I got to see them work first hand. Good luck.

It's great that you've had that first hand experience! Sounds like a good area. My wife and I would like to eventually end up in that area. Been through Bragg and OBX a few times. Very nice area!

It is changing. Problem is funding. It has been a major source of contention for years. Currently the plan is to start pushing people reclass ing through the q course that new recruits attend.

Im a prior service 12B that's been out for over ten years. Im currently looking into coming back into the reserves as a 37F. Can you advise if reservists go through the assessment/selection and POQC? I don't want to come back in as "half-trained".

SPC Greg Gobert reservists do not go through selection. They go through a condensed 29 day course. You aren’t “half trained” because the mission for reservists is completely different than that of the active component. Like any training, you’ll be capable of understanding the concepts of the job. Only experience can make you proficient.

SPC Greg Gobert let me specify. New reservists that aren’t prior service and exempt from basic training and AIT go through a selection. Prior service does not.
