The U.S. military needs a more focused war plan specific to China, especially after China’s recent declaration of an air defense zone over the East China Sea, a group of defense analysts told a prominent House subcommittee Wednesday.

China will not go to war with the one that pays their bills with interest off of the Treasury Notes they hold. It may be egocentric sounding but the world needs the USA to be around. When our economy tanks the world's follows. Our rate of consumption keeps the international economy alive.

This is one of the reasons we tie China to us so closely. A war with us would be utterly devastating to their economy as we cancelled all debt, invalidated their T-notes and shut off trade.

It wouldn't be a walk in the park for us either, but their economy is actually pretty fragile.

SGT Jeremiah B. - Actually, I'd argue that it would be equally devistating for our economy as well. A large portion of goods shipped to the US come from China (Walmart much, lol).

I served in China as the Asst US Army Atache. China is s growing threat. We have war plans. What we need is a president and civilian/military leaders with the will to stand up to China. Increasingly China views the U.S. as weak and indecisive.

I agree that China is a threat to US National security, sir. However, the Chinese military is highly dependent on trade with the US. So much so, that a a crash in the Chinese economy as a result of war with the US would effectively cripple their ability to make war against us.

It would probably cripple the economy if we did. I doubt anything will happen.

We are already in a conflict with China except the shooting hasn't started yet. China can't really flex it's muscles yet because they are still in the middle of modernizing their military, and the US is still the Worlds Major Military Power. This will change because America's military strength is weakening. Once China feels that she has at least reached Naval and Air parity with the US, she will then move to strengthen her position in the Far East Region, both economically and militarily.
