The biggest issue with CBRNE TTPs is the expectation to wear JLIST for extended time and the expectation to fight a battle in the JLIST. The biggest problem comes for the Mech infantry and Armor units as their TTPS. If the higher ups actually understood the purpose and use of the JLIST is only good for 8 to 24 hours and is for getting out of the contaminated area quickly as possible.

Thats right but its a psylogical thing that makes you feel safe. A Soldier that is cluless does not perform. Training in the field is so important. Slide shows just look good.

Their not out of date what is out of date is the support. When I was stationd in Korea in 2008 my S-3 OIC told me that the MOS 74D was a useless MOS. the MOS is mis-understood and covers so much. As an NCO I had always pushed the training for Chemical and BIO, my biggest fear is what happens when we acutally need it and no one is trained?

I agree the MOS itself is pretty much a laughing stock and people are extremely under trained. When I conduct any kind of CBRN training it's hard to keep soldiers engaged because they it's point less, which scares me because of the fact that the threat is real and is out there and soldiers will not be prepared when they have to encounter it.

I use to try and do everything as real as possible. During an excerise at NTC I had a Solder put a Alcheselzer (Sp), in his mouth and then a swig of shelf milk, this was cleared through the CO, when the convoy stopped and everyone got out see why I signaled him and the effects simulated a nurological attack. what I didnt know was the SGM was at the front of the convoy and he was freaking out at the site. My goal was acheived, no one was prepared for a chemical Attack, and there not now.

The problem is this, The Corps and the Army doesn't realize that if you read the FM's JSLIST is only for quick in and out taskings and missions. A 74D shouldn't use the JSLIST at all, we have level suits to do missions with. A high percent of unit don't have the proper equipment (Level Suits) for us to to our job so we use JSLIST to fight our fight which makes us work 20x harder. Most CBRN leaders don't notify when it come to exevals and training that we shouldn't be using JSLIST. our Cbrn equipment isn't army wide. Most Cbrn units have old gear and equipment.
