I have a soldier that reports to Drill Sergeant School 10 Sep 2014. He took is APFT today 6 Aug 2014 and failed for the first time. Before that he did 2 diagnostics and pass both of them. The day he took his APFT just wasn't his day. So since then he was flagged and now they are trying to delete his orders. My question is can a commander delete drill sergeant orders for school without valid reasoning beside first apft failure? Im tring to figure out why not defer the soldier to give him more time to prepare himself in that area? He's really not bad off in PT, this morning just wasnt in him. It happens sometimes.

If the Soldier took a record APFT and failed then he should be flagged even if it was his first failure, the unit should contact the DS branch and ask for a deferment also but if he failed and couldn't achieve a 60% standard in his age group do you believe he can pass at 70% in the 17-21 age group? If not then your really setting this NCO up for failure...

Drill sergeant school does not require a a 70% in the 18-21 it's in your age group and that is only at the end of the course for the final APFT. HRC is the only approval authority for deletion of DS orders. The commander will try but he will not be able to delete them especially if he is DA selected the unit is responsible for ensuring the soldier is able to pass an APFT by the time they leave for school. Even if he goes to school and he fails he will be send back to the home unit and will report back to DS School a month later.

I simply asked HRC if a bankruptcy in the past 3 years would affect my orders for recruiting and they cancelled mine right on the spot. I wanted to do it.

Respond to original question…I do not have regulation in fornt of me but once the Soldier is flagged there is a high probablility of coming off orders.

As far as not failing a ARMY Physical Fitness Test; I can say that in 26 years I have only failed one and that was because I drank too much fluid before the run. I also cannot remember the last time I scored less than 295. I scored a 298 5-months after shattering my lower leg and cracking my knee.

In my opinion there is absolutely no reason to fail. If you are ill then see a Doctor to prove it. Stating it was not my day does not cut it. At a minimum you should keep yourself at the 80% range because when you attend a school there are no breaks.

It sounds to me that you are full of yourself, if you get my drift. So you are Superman, who cares? Not me.
