Those who were around for Woodland BDUs will remember that we had brown t-shirts (and black boots). With the Army now going to "OCP" ... the Scorpion W2 aka generic Multicam pattern, will we keep the tan t-shirt and boots? Or will we go to coyote tan on the boots along with TA-50? Brown t-shirts or green like the Marines? And will all this lead to a single standard field uniform across the services?

Sir, I don't get the inter-branch pissing match over uniforms and gear. I think the new pattern is excellent having worn it overseas on my last tour. The closer the colors match dirt the more effective they seem to be. I still have to say that I miss the days of pressed uniforms and shined boots. I didn't particularly enjoy shining and pressing, but I could appreciate being able to see who did put the attention to detail into their uniform and have the discipline to keep doing it. These soldiers typically did the same in all aspects of life and their career, the uniform made it easier to identify superior soldiers and suck-ups. Now that we're past these items, I say go for what is absolutely most effective for our men and women in uniform and give everyone the same superior gear.

Sir, I will take the brown t-shirt again any day. I still have four brown ones and a few pairs of black boots. Unfortunately I gave all my sets of BDUs to my sisters to wear when they were in high school. One thing I would not give up was my summer BDU patrol cap. I cherish it too much from the good old days. Not sure if we will adopt a new color of t-shirt to match the other services.
