I served the last 5 years of my career with 10th SFG. During that time I was very lucky to have gone to numerous military and civilian Armorer schools such as Glock, Sniper Weapon Systems Repair and Joint Armorer Course at Crane.
Now that I am a civilian I would like to continue working on guns and maybe one day start my own shop.
Any suggestions on schools or other opportunities?

Chief, first step would be to get out of Maryland! That's what Beretta is doing. A lot of the big guys, Remington, Barrett, play in Tennessee (GOOD OL ROCKY TOP!), I would imagine they would probably have some schools out there.

I agree 100%, we are getting ready to move just down the road to West Virginia.

Here's a few courses out in Fairfax that I found. I love West Virginia, probably going to go white water rafting on the Gauley in the fall.

maybe I can help you out. I was a 91f (small arms/artillery repair) in the army and worked for Glock, then got a contracting gig overseas and am still working in the armorer field, my best advice is get all the factory certs you can because thats what most companies want. Glock, Beretta, AR's, M2,249 and 240 if youre going to be working with the military or contracting, some companies will pay for you to go to courses and others wont, some require more , some less, hope i was helpful
