I would like to know if other posts have the same issues with their NEC's as FT Drum does. Currently the FT Drum NEC has removed or taken away just about every administrative rights a certified Soldier should have, we can currently only submit tickets and maybe install local software. This makes me question why I should even try to become verified in the first place or encourage others to try, all my knowledge and talent is wasted as well as the Soldiers who are eager to learn.

Is there a way to push back against the NEC and regain the admin rights we should have as certified administrators?

Or are we stuck forgetting and not practicing our MOS?

SSG Mcnamee, it was like that at my last post for the S6. They could network printers and the minimal type stuff and it was like that when I left. Where I work now, a lot of the problems we have are sent up to Ft. Meade. We do more than just unlocking account and passwords but a lot of things that could be handled here are not and I believe as the Army starts reducing numbers, both civilian and military, you will see a lot of the work being given back to the enablers. I say stay current on your certs and training so when they start looking to give back some power, you are ready for it and it will help them in their decision to do so.

We have the same situation here but with even less rights can't even unlock users. Staying current is easy it's the experience for the Soldiers in an ever changing environment I can't replicate without hands on training. It's a tough place to be but if they are cutting back more sooner then later there might be a light at the end if the tunnle.

Try to see if you can coordinate with someone at the NEC for some training or to send Soldiers up there to help work. Never hurts to try and all they can say is no.

I was hoping for at least some feedback.

Is anyone in the same predicament?

It looks like you may be the only one here with your MOS. Why don't you just go work at the NEC (don't know if that is possible, just asking)?

I wish that we're the case sir, but not all the bases have the same issues with their NEC or have just given up. We are trying to get green suitors to work along side the civilians but there is a lot of resistance. They feel it's not our place and their job alone to run the Army network.
