Could the average American ever win a Presidential election?

We can all agree that the electoral system is deeply flawed. There are two primary parties, of which only their party members can vote. After two candidates are chosen, it comes down to a national election / "suggestion." The electoral college then votes for the President.
Realistically, only mega rich candidates and candidates who can sway/buy the media have a chance..

Not in the current environment. K street would have to be gone, the senators would be chosen by there respective states as prescribed by the US Constitution, the congress would be a part time job where representatives would have to live in their respective districts with the people they represent. And finally there would be no such thing as a career politician.

The reason for the bicameral congress is the states and the people would have equal representation in a federalist system. The law, US Constitution, was created to make it difficult to change, because they needed to ensure people had the voting power, not individual state fiefdoms. The 17th effectively destroyed states rights and gave it to a fickle mob. There really isn't a need for a senate now that they are elected, they could have just as easily added two extra seats, by state, to the House.

ENS (Join to see) My answer is "Hell No!", we are seeing even an above average person climb an uphill battle against the an ingrained institution - those beind the scenes that control the money, our government, our lives. I believe we have lost America to an Institution of people like the Clintons and the Clinton Foundation(s), Super pacs, and powerful organizations that wouldn't dream of a simple Man or Woman running for the "puppet office" (it has become) POTUS. What happened to America, what happened to the system that was put in place by our forefathers, and how did we let it get away! Is there a way to ever get it back or will we all lose our freedoms someday to the institution? You can define the Institution anyway you want to - its there and it exist! What form will it take this week? Sorry I'm just disappointed this year with the elections and all the crap that is going on. It's much worse than it was in the mid 70's

No. It takes an enormous amount of money. You either have to bring it, raise it or beg for it. Wait a moment... Either way, too much money for an average person.
