NG and reserves, do you get paid for completing official and required training at home? On line, SSD-1 and the like?

I am in the guard and i am currently in AIT. My platoon sergeant is telling us that we have to complete our ssd1 or we can't graduate. But I was told that we can turn in our certificate to our s1 and getting paid extra if we do it at home. Or does that only apply to the reserves?

If you have been ordered to do SSD while on a duty status, then you need to execute that order (not illegal, immoral, or unethical).
There is a provision, at least on on the USAR side (I assume for the NG, but am not 100% sure) that allows you to get paid for completing certain online training on your own time. SSD is one of the trainings that qualifies.
However, if you have been ordered to do it while on a duty status, you won't be able to request pay for it again - you were already paid for it by being in a duty status.

As long as you're not on orders. When you fill out the 1380, do NOT put dates you are on Drill or AT.... Well, do not do your SSD while on orders. But yes you do, I've taken and passed it over a year ago and still have not gotten paid

I was told no by a guy in the Guard at my unit, but I should ask my Sergeant what his response to this AIT statement is since I'm in S-1 now.
