This is a school project which has gained some real-world application. I enjoy school projects that promotes positive change outside the classroom.
Any suggestions are welcome. Please break down any church-jargon down barney style so I can understand.

"Celebrate Recovery" is a Christ centered church based nondenominational program that has had great success.
Details available at http://www.celebraterecovery.com
If your church isn't able to start one there is probably one already in or near your community.
I believe the program originated out of Saddleback Church (Pastor Rick Warren)
Several churches use these and others like it. My church used this for a while with great success and now have decided to move beyond it so they are free to incorporate some things they felt were missing from the program that were specific to our Church and would fold in better with some existing programs. With that in mind some Church leaders actively involved in recovery and some teaching staff visited other churches who had started their own program or who also had tried to take it a few steps further. They networked with these people and evaluated what worked and what didn't and what might be beneficial to us and available to use and then built on that for our own program. It's still a work in progress but is set to be launched soon.
It always starts with one. Somewhere in your Church is a member who is in recovery or knows someone who is. Invite them to participate. Find out what works. Throw out what doesn't.
There are several programs available with abundant resources to use, just spend some time researching/googling/exploring/networking.
The only wrong thing to do is nothing.
Good luck

Reach out to other churches.
Many churches nowadays have websites detailing staff contact info and programs available. See what they offer. Talk to them and see what works.
Maybe recovery programs need a jumpstart in your area? Stir up Interest with other church members in other churches. Reach out through the local ministerial alliance. Find local prayer groups and request prayer for God to start doing what you can't do for yourself and pray for how He wants you to get involved. Be willing to move and jump in. The need is there and once you get the ball rolling it will grow exponentially overnight, if God is invited in from the beginning.
Most of all.... Love.
It's what every addict is dying for and cannot find. Genuine unconditional Love.
Let God lead you.

SrA Alan Sherman - Thanks for the info. I think I'll simply follow my gut instinct and go from there.

....... every congreation is somewhat different. The first and maybe the best thing will be to discover how much intrest there is in your congreation? Keep in mind, no matter how good the program, it takes dedicated people to make it successful. Many Prayers for you and your Church as you continue your efforts.

SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth - Maybe I didn't offer enough detail in the question. I'm looking for [detailed] ways to improve upon a program - ideas, solutions, lessons learned, effective methods to keep patients and workers engaged.
