I would say that my Largest accomplishment was the ones that went unnoticed. I was able to prevent fourteen (14) Suicides by directly getting involved. As such one of those 14 then saved my life in Iraq. No one ever knew but me and those 14. I was involved in combat sure, but I was never recognized for that either but when the 11B brought me back with them to the FOB that night they allowed me to sit at the table with them and it made me so proud. The best accomplishments are usually the ones no one else knows about.

That's great to hear James. How in the world did you help prevent 14 suicides? I've been directly involved with helping three in my life (47 years). You seem pretty young, so I'm just curious. And the one that saved your life in Iraq was paying it forward that benefitted you in the long run. God works in mysterious ways my friend.

I was always in the right place and time. I have been involved in emergency situations and helping people from a young age; bullies, school shootings, "work place violence", Fort hood and then I went down range. so to me responding to a crisis come naturally. I suppose I was drawn into the military for personal reasons but put in the situation to save people through God because there is no other way to explain it.

Well 1SG David Reveal, I'm not done serving yet. But so far, I would have to say my duty position as an S1 has been my greatest accomplishment. I have been able to help so many hundreds of Soldiers with issues in all types of areas. I've seen PFCs become CPTs, SGTs become CW2, SSGs become CSM. And in some small way I helped everyone of them. I can't explain how good it makes me feel when someone comes to me with a problem that, to them, seems insurmountable and with a few forms and some signatures or a quick phone call, all their problems are solved!

Excellent!!! I've always felt the S1 folks never get the credit they deserve. When I was a 1SG, I made sure to go to the S1 shop as often as I could to thank them and let them know what a great job they were doing.

Becoming a leader and learning how to speak with confidence. Outside of that, drafting many standard operating procedures that will stick around for decades to come. :-) My legacy will live on! ;)
